For children
Children's ski school in Tatranská Lomnica
Private lessons for children from the age of four. One instructor for your child or your family — never a group of strangers' children. The helmet is included and you pay on site.
From what age we teach
We teach children from the age of four. We take three-year-olds only by arrangement, and we would rather say so in advance than take your money for an hour.
The reason is simple. A three-year-old usually doesn't yet have the leg strength or the concentration that skiing asks for. The hour then isn't about skiing but about persuading, and what remains is a bad memory rather than a first turn. Waiting a year is worth it.
From four to six we build the lesson around play: walking in skis, the snowplough, first braking, short runs on the gentle slope on Buková hora. From seven, children move faster and usually ride down on their own in the second hour.
How the first lesson goes
Day one isn't about performance. It's about the child losing the fear and wanting to come back tomorrow.
Getting to know each other
The instructor talks to the child before putting skis on them: what they've tried, what scares them, what they enjoy.
First metres on the flat
Walking, balance, falling and getting up on level ground. The child learns that falling is no disaster — that's half the battle.
Snowplough and braking
Only once they can stop do they go on the gentle slope. Control comes before speed, in that order and never the other way round.
The first turn of their own
Most children have it after roughly four hours, usually two days of two hours.
What your child needs
Equipment
Skis, boots and poles are rented from us. With a lesson a child's full kit costs 15 € a day.
A helmet
We give it free with every course. Safety is not an extra here.
Warm clothes and gloves
Waterproof trousers and jacket, gloves, thin socks inside the boots. Goggles are recommended but not required.
A small snack
Children last longer when they can have a biscuit and a drink between blocks. We have tea for them.
What it costs
Siblings, or a parent with a child, take one lesson together, which works out cheaper than two separate lessons. You see the total for the group up front and nothing gets added later.

From what age do you take children?
From four. Three-year-olds only by arrangement — at that age a lesson on the slope is usually premature and we would rather say so up front.
Can I be on the slope with my child?
Yes, though we suggest watching from a distance. Children behave differently in front of a parent and the first hour goes more smoothly when they feel they're managing on their own.
How many hours does a child need?
Most children make their first turns of their own after roughly four hours, usually split into two days of two hours.
Do you teach siblings together?
Yes, if you want. Two siblings in one lesson work out cheaper than two separate lessons.
Is the helmet included?
Yes, with every course. On its own it costs 7 € a day.
What if my child gives up after half an hour?
Tell the instructor on the slope. If after the first 55 minutes you say it wasn't for you, you pay nothing for that hour. Once per customer.
Where do you teach children?
On the gentle slope on Buková hora, a short way from our school in Tatranská Lomnica. More advanced children go higher.
